Alannah & Alex’s Perisher Destination Wedding

Destination weddings don’t always have to mean tropical beaches or European castles. Sometimes they’re found high in the Snowy Mountains, surrounded by alpine scenery, crisp mountain air and the people who matter most.

Alannah and Alex chose to celebrate their wedding at the beautiful Marritz Hotel in Perisher, creating a relaxed wedding weekend where all of their closest family and friends could stay together under one roof. It made the entire celebration feel less like a single day and more like a weekend away with everyone they love.

Although it was the middle of winter, the snow season had been slower than usual. Instead of blizzards and freezing temperatures, we were treated to brilliant sunshine, blue skies and surprisingly mild weather. It couldn’t have been more perfect for spending time outside exploring everything Perisher had to offer.

One of the biggest advantages of getting married in Perisher is the incredible variety of locations within minutes of each other. Thanks to Luke from the Marritz Hotel, we were driven around the mountain, allowing us to photograph Alannah and Alex amongst both snowy landscapes and rugged alpine scenery. The combination gave us an incredible collection of portraits that felt uniquely Australian while still capturing the magic of a winter wedding.

One thing that stood out all day was how genuinely happy these two were. Every time we looked through the viewfinder they were smiling, laughing or simply enjoying being together. Their joy was contagious, making every photograph feel effortless and authentic.

The ceremony was intimate, heartfelt and surrounded by the people who had travelled from all over to celebrate with them. Afterwards everyone returned to the warmth of the Marritz Hotel, where the celebrations continued late into the evening.

As Sydney wedding photographers, we absolutely love destination weddings because they allow everyone to slow down and truly enjoy the experience together. Whether it’s a vineyard, a coastal town or somewhere as unique as Perisher, there’s something incredibly special about escaping everyday life and celebrating somewhere unforgettable.
