We selected a Mediterranean setting for the shoot located at Fagan Park in New South Wales, Australia. The warm earthy tones of the stone staircase, coupled with a touch of muted greenery and lavender was a perfect backdrop for the main reception table display and signing table. Shyani and Simon from Moments Photography did the photography and videography and, along with Giselle, did a lot of the coordination and organisation.
We love using natural light to achieve a soft, airy, pastel look and we only had a small window to do this in due to the shorter winter days Our wonderful florist, Naoko from Flower Stories by Naoko used grey elements such traditional dusty miller and incorporated some Australian natives like silver gum and tetragona nuts in order to create the vintage look. She integrated some beautiful Pink Esprit roses, cream coloured Vandela roses and beautifully scented local pink Davis Austin roses. She also incorporated some seasonal and local flowers such as white Sweet Pea, Hellebore, Blushing Bride and white Tulips. She used ribbon from Songbird Silk in a “Dusty Moorhen” to tie the bouquet together. Hayley from The Vintage Kitchen provided the beautifully elegant, vintage mix-and-match plates with a simple pattern on the china, antique silverware, candlesticks and cut crystal glasses which worked so well with our theme.
Jess and Emma from Willow & Ink created a stunning acrylic sign which was hand painted with duck egg blue and silver, featuring a beautiful love quote hand done in black calligraphy to match the place card tiles. The acrylic tiles were also painted and dipped in silver ink to give it a mottled finish. The hand painted calligraphy in black ink for the names gave it the vintage, antiquated feel we envisioned.
The stationery suite was designed by Carla from Peppermint Press. She created a soft and pretty design with a vintage feel by using cotton rag paper, which has a lovely deckled edge and incorporated a duck-egg blue watercolour wash along the bottom with a touch of silver leaf. The set included the invitation with a soft blue envelope, a matching information card and menu.
Priya from Sugar Blossom Boutique Cakes drew inspiration from the invitation design for her cake. She created an amazing 3 tier cake. It was a 5, 7 and 9 inch round cake with almost all tiers 6 inches tall. All tiers covered in white fondant. The bottom tier was entirely covered in torn fondant/wafer paper to mimic the rag paper finish of the invite. The base of the tier and the torn bits had subtle hints of the vintage duck egg blue in a watercolour effect. She also incorporated silver leaf flakes among the textured area which was carried on to the second tier covering 1/4 of the bottom half of the tier. The remaining 3/4 of the tier and top tier was be kept clean to highlight the clean lines of the design. We were all so lucky enough to be able to eat it at the end and it was simply divine!
Melissa from Willow Tree Vintage provided all the stunning furniture including the amazing dusty pink 3 seater lounge we used for the breakout seating area, the upholstered dining chairs, various trunks and suitcases, iron outdoor setting we used for the signing table, beautiful wooden gilded tall candlesticks, white French side table for the Wedding cake display, the vintage easel and the stunning iron lantern.
Louise from Louise Alverez Couture decided to select the “Amana” gown from her collection. It has an Ivory corded lace and silk organza bodice, featuring a plunging V-shaped neckline with three-dimensional hand beaded lace flowers. Full tulle skirt is cut in layers of blush and ivory tulle forming a train at the back hemline. Gown is fastened with loops and covered buttons at the back.
Camila and Myles were our models for the day, and, being a couple in real life, our lives were made so much easier when they were able to pose naturally and comfortably together. Camila also did her own hair and makeup and opted for a more natural look. The delicate 100% cotton “crinkle” cheesecloth fabric for the table runner and napkins was beautifully custom hand dyed for our shoot by Honey Dew Props. Each vendor managed to incorporate these colours into their individual creations.
