A Perfect Southern Highlands Wedding Day
Melody and Bowrun’s wedding at Mali Brae Farm in the NSW Southern Highlands was everything you could wish for heartfelt, joyful, and filled with colour.
The weather couldn’t have been more perfect. With soft light cloud cover for most of the day, it created the dreamiest conditions for photography. The couple started their morning at a nearby Airbnb, only a two minute drive from the venue, which provided stunning backdrops for their portraits and seamlessly matched the relaxed yet elegant feel of their wedding.
Heartfelt Ceremony at The Ruins
Their ceremony took place at The Ruins, one of the most romantic spots on the property. With laughter and emotion in equal measure (and some truly hilarious vows), it set the tone for the rest of the day.
After saying “I do,” the couple made their grand exit through a shower of confetti before heading into cocktail hour surrounded by family and friends. With plenty of time built into their timeline, we had the luxury of capturing every little moment without rush, from candid guest interactions to long, creative portrait sessions around the grounds.
Portraits, Highland Cows & Golden Light
There’s just something magical about Mali Brae Farm at golden hour. The rolling hills, rustic buildings, and the iconic Highland cows made for some of the most memorable frames of the day. As the light began to fade, the top field glowed with a soft golden haze, the kind of light photographers dream of.
Melody’s bouquet from Blush and Blooms Floral Studio brought the perfect pop of colour against the softer tones of the landscape. Colour is something we always encourage our couples to embrace, especially on slightly overcast days and these florals absolutely elevated every shot.
Reception Magic at Mali Brae Farm
If you’ve ever been to Mali Brae Farm, you’ll know it’s a place run by some of the most humble and gracious hosts in the industry. Every detail, from the service to the setup, is handled with such care that every wedding there feels personal and warm.
Melody and Bowrun’s reception was the perfect reflection of that atmosphere, relaxed, emotional, and filled with joy. The absolute highlight was Melody’s first dance performance, which she wrote, sang, and played on the piano herself. It was a moment that had everyone teary-eyed and in complete awe.
As the night went on, the dance floor came alive thanks to the tunes of Tillee Music and a fun photobooth by Star Events Hire that kept guests entertained well into the evening.

Honestly, this wedding was everything we love about what we do. A thoughtful timeline, amazing vendors, and two people who were fully present in every moment. When couples give themselves time to breathe and enjoy the day, it shows in every frame, every laugh, and every dance move.
