Lincolns Rock, Wentworth Falls | The Blue Mountains
One of our absolute favourite ways to spend an afternoon — photographing a loved-up couple during golden hour at Lincolns Rock in the Blue Mountains.
Dilshan and Krishni planned their couples portrait session for November, and the light did not disappoint. The last 90 minutes of sun gave us the kind of golden glow that makes the mountains feel even more magical. It’s a spot we come back to again and again, and for good reason — dramatic cliffs, wide open skies and that epic drop-off that makes you feel like you’re on the edge of the world.
These two made the most of it, bringing along a picnic setup that added an extra layer of warmth and storytelling to the shoot. Whether they were wrapped up on the rug, sharing a quiet moment, or laughing mid-movement, they brought such a lovely energy to the session.
We always aim to keep our portrait sessions playful and natural — lots of movement, candid moments and some gentle direction to keep things feeling relaxed and intimate. We want couples to feel like themselves, just with a bit of help from the sunset and some very good light.
For this shoot, we also brought along the old faithful — our 1976 Pentax 67. We shot a mix of Kodak Portra 400 and Portra Gold film for that soft, nostalgic glow and those creamy skin tones that film just does so well. There’s something really special about slowing down and taking a few frames on medium format, and Dilshan and Krishni were the perfect fit for that.
We love creating space for couples to connect and just be themselves, and this session was everything we love about portrait shoots.
