Berkelouw Book Barn, Bendooley Estate | NSW Southern Highlands
Rebecca and Edward’s wedding was everything you dream of when you think about a romantic summer celebration in the Southern Highlands. Set at the breathtaking Bendooley Estate, their day unfolded with beauty, elegance and so many unforgettable moments.
Their ceremony took place in The Garden, under a clear blue sky surrounded by all their closest family and friends. There’s something truly special about this spot at Bendooley Framed by deciduous trees and rolling gardens, it feels like a little slice of Europe in the heart of New South Wales. Their vows were personal, heartfelt and filled with laughter, setting the tone for the rest of the day.
As guests made their way to the Lakeside Pavilion for cocktail hour, we whisked Rebecca and Edward away for a stroll through the grounds. Bendooley is one of those venues where every corner is cinematic – from the tree-lined paths to the lake reflections and ivy-covered stone walls. It was the perfect setting for some quiet moments together, and the golden light gave us the most magical atmosphere to shoot their portraits.
We also brought along our 1976 Pentax 67 film camera for their portrait session and shot a roll of Kodak Portra 400 in medium format. There’s something timeless and soulful about film, and it felt right for this kind of wedding; soft, romantic and effortlessly elegant.
Their reception was held in the Book Barn, which completely transforms from a café into a warm and intimate reception space filled with candlelight, laughter and the scent of fresh florals. Long tables, heartfelt speeches and a packed dance floor closed out a day that was full of joy and connection.
Bendooley Estate remains one of our favourite wedding venues in the Southern Highlands. It’s not just beautiful, it’s truly designed for celebrations that feel relaxed, personal and rich in detail.
