Moments Photography are transitioning into hybrid shooting! Shyani has wanted to do this for years and it’s finally happening! What does this even mean? Not many people will understand why we would want to start shooting old school film cameras when digital cameras are so advanced – but there is something magical about the look of film that we cannot even being to explain. You just have to see it! The soft, editorial look and the way that it captures light and movement is incomparable to digital – don’t worry, we still shoot digital, we just incorporate some film into the mix. This helps us with our finished look – we match our digital edits to our film scans (the peachy skin tones, the minty greens, the light, bright and airy images are all edited to emulate the look of film). We can (excitedly) talk about this all day! Here is a beautiful video of Shyani’s 1:1 film mentoring class she took with the lovely Sheri McMahon – this is one talented lady. She taught metering, composition, styling and everything in between, she also helped with the form for the film lab – which is a whole other ball game. Over the next few shoots, you might see some film images mixed into our galleries (it might be hard to tell though as we already edit to look like film).
